Everybody Belongs
PBIS Kindness Competitive Grant Program for School Systems

The Choose Kindness Foundation is launching the Everybody Belongs PBIS Kindness Competitive Grant Program for School Systems. The purpose of the grant program is to develop and implement kindness programs and activities designed to increase kindness throughout a school system, beginning in 4 or more schools with a high proportion of students of color and high poverty rates and then expanding the kindness initiative throughout the school system.  The Foundation is interested in recruiting school districts/systems with an enrollment of 35,000 students or more.  The Foundation wishes to foster the long-term implementation of kindness and is interested in funding projects for three years.

PBIS Kindness School System plan will be implemented in a cohort-type model of implementation.  The project will fund 4 or more PBIS schools in each of 3 years. As each new cohort of PBIS schools implements PBIS Kindness, the schools from previous cohorts will maintain their Kindness programming and activities.

The Choose Kindness Foundation will provide the school system with up to $25,000 to be distributed to 4 or more schools (cohort 1) in year one of the program. An equal amount will be provided in years 2 and 3 to be distributed to 4 or more additional schools in each of those years.  Subsequent years’ funding from the Foundation will be contingent upon the successful implementation of PBIS Kindness in year one schools.

This project is designed for school systems that seek to implement and integrate PBIS Kindness in multiple school sites over multiple years.  Due to the competitive nature of this grant, school systems will be selected to participate based on their successful implementation of PBIS and their ability to meet the eligibility requirements described in this grant description.

Eligibility Criteria

Preference will be given to school systems/districts with:

  • Multiple PBIS Schools with high poverty and high percent of students of color.
  • Participating schools that have successfully implemented PBIS with TFI Tier 1 score of 70% or better for 3 years.
  • Successful school systems will have an established system level PBIS leadership.
  • Demonstrated support from school system leadership such as superintendent or designee indicate backing for the grant program.
  • Enrollments of at least 35,000 students.
